School Resumption -Here We Go Again
How did your holiday go? Well, mine was fine. Actually, it was very productive and I loved it but due to some things, I was low-key looking forward to resuming school. Finally, the day came and I resumed but now I’m wishing that I stayed longer at home but oh well.

Resumption in CU
The resumption dates were 26th March 2022, and 27th March 2022. I resumed on the first resumption day – 26th march and let’s just say that stress was in the air. I was supposed to write and publish this post on Saturday but I was tired so I slept. My journey from Akwaibom to Lagos, then to my school in Ogun state was quite stressful but at least Lagos hold up wasn’t bad that day. Finally got to school and not many people had resumed.
The next challenge was to print clearance. The kind of Waka that I Waka before I could print my clearance was something else but finally, I printed it. I went back to my hall and my things were searched then I took my things to my room. Thereafter, I went to carry my things from Box-it (it’s a platform that allows students to leave their luggage in school when they vacate).
I actually left most of my things in school to avoid having extra luggage on my flight. I left my big box which weighed 38kg and my big Ganabag which also weighed a lot. The room where my things were kept was on the 300 floor and I was searching for the woman in charge of the Box-it so I could get the key and carry my things. There was a woman I met in the Residency Administrator’s office that I thought was the person in charge of the Box-it but I wasn’t sure so I asked someone else and he said she’s not the lady in charge of it.

I climbed up to the 300 floor several times and I even checked her office on the 200 floor several times but I couldn’t find her. Eventually, I decided to just go and confirm if the woman was the person I was looking for or not. I entered the Residency Administrator’s office and asked her and she said she was the one and I just stared at the person that told me she wasn’t the one. [Moral lesson: Trust no one😭]
Fast forward to when I got the key to the room and I dragged my things from 300 floor to 100 floor. I was really wishing I had the power to teleport so I could just appear in my room with my things💔. At least when I got to the 100 floor, a nice guy helped me carry my things to my hall and I thanked him then carried my things to my room.

On Sunday, we had service from 7am to 9am. It could have been very easy for the chaplain or someone us to tell us “welcome back to school” but they decided to hold a welcome service by 7pm. Of course, CU made the service compulsory for all students. I went for the service and after everything, I left when it ended, i.e after sharing the covenant exchange, the grace, etc.
Not long after I left, the Dean Of Students Affairs (DSA) shouted that everyone should get back, and immediately they shut all the doors. Yes, I was locked out. Why did they have to wait for people to leave before locking the door? It was almost like a trap that was strategically set. Yes, I did biometrics for the welcome service, but because of what happened, the DSA decided that another biometrics would be taken.
Actually, I miss the former DSA. Immediately he noticed people start leaving he would shout “get back” or something like that…not to wait for people to leave then lock them out. I was really pissed that evening because it’s not like I stabbed the service o! I attended it and see how things ended up. I waited outside till it was obvious that they wouldn’t let us back in, and the MSS was around so I didn’t want a situation where they would come and cease MY ID card. I would rather miss an attendance that let my ID card get ceased so I jejely carried myself to my hall.

So I was about to publish this post when I found something quite interesting on Twitter. A very stupid human being made a tweet about what happened during the welcome service. It’s actually funny that he/she referred to the students that left the chapel as “Idiots”. This person could have said “DSA really had us standing for 30 minutes because some students left the chapel” but no, he/she decided that the people that left are idiots.

It wasn’t just me, there were actually a lot of people that got locked out, and why? because we left after the service had ended. But tweeting that the people that left are Idiots doesn’t make sense. I mean because you are jobless and willing to sleep in the chapel doesn’t mean that others are willing to do that. People had things to do after the service, besides it was after the service that people left. It’s not like this person’s legs broke after standing for 30 minutes.
Anyways… Welcome to Omega Semester!
