Journey Of A Thousand Miles: My Re-validation Experience pt4
Welcome to the final lap of my race. Can you imagine passing through what I passed through? I mean why should a student go through all that? Well, there’s more. So I left the AO’s office because he refused to allow me to meet the HOD of the economics department. But what did I do next?
I decided to go to DAPU’s office. On getting to DAPU’s office, I met a lady there. She’s probably DAPU’s secretary or assistant, I’m not sure. But let’s just assume that she is DAPU’s secretary. When I came to the office, she said she was on her way out, she said I should go and come in 15 minutes. I remembered that my HOD said I should come and tell her what my level advisor says, so I decided to use the opportunity to tell my HOD what he said. I went back to my HOD’S office at CEDS but she was nowhere to be found.

It was like she disappeared into thin air. I was pissed cause I walked all the way there for nothing. I didn’t even stress myself, I went back to the DAPU’s office. After explaining my predicament, the Secretary said that DAPU doesn’t handle revalidation matters like that, and she directed me to another office in the registry that will solve my problem.
I had mixed feelings. I was happy that my journey would finally come to an end, I was also annoyed and frustrated because of the stress, I was pissed, not to mention, I was hungry (a hungry man is an angry man- the same applies to ladies). I got to the office at the registry that the secretary directed me to. I met a man there and he asked what the problem is and I told him. The man in the office told me that they don’t handle re-validations there and at that point, I felt like a volcano that was about to erupt.

I actually started erupting, but the man in the office said I should calm down that he knows I’ve been through a lot. He said that he knows the place where my issue can be sorted out and I saw a ray of hope. I got myself together and went to the office that he directed me to. Indeed that was the end of my journey, but was it fruitful? NO, it was not. All my labor was in vain
The lady in the office that I was directed to has the records of all re-validations, both online and written. She asked for my matric number and searched her system twice but nothing came up about my case. She even tried searching with my reg no but still nothing. She checked all the paper re-validations and my form wasn’t there. She then said that all re-validations for the semester have been completed and the fact that she couldn’t find my re-validation record anywhere means that it was not processed in the first place.

I felt deceived. All this while I’ve been stressing myself over something that was never done? I was really pissed. I asked the lady what I could do and she said that the re-validation portal has already closed and she advised me that immediately I come back next semester, once I hear that the revalidation portal is open, I should apply for another re-validation and that everything will go fine.
Well, that’s my re-validation experience. Honestly, I think it’s better that I found out that my re-validation was never processed than to keep jumping around. Oh well. I’m not giving up though, I’ll try again next semester.
