Chichi tears up as she speaks on childhood trauma, depression, fight with Phyna (Video)
Big Brother Naija star, Chinenyenwa Desire Okoebor, popularly known as Chichi, has divulged heartbreaking details about her upbringing, her motivation for becoming a stripper, and her strained friendship with Phyna, who was formerly her closest friend.
Chichi broke down in tears as she described her difficult upbringing, which was filled with events that no little girl should have to go through, during an interview with the well-known media personality Chude Jideonwo.
She alluded to experiencing both physical and sexual assault, highlighting the extreme difficulties she endured as a child.
Chichi talked about her career as a stripper and how a succession of profoundly personal experiences that had formed her life had affected her decision to enter that business. She acknowledged that many Nigerians might find it difficult to understand or relate to her unusual story.
The reality TV personality also explained that after the BGSBaija reunion event, she experienced sadness and misery. She was so upset that she deleted her social media accounts because she thought the reunion was staged to damage her reputation.
Chichi revealed that her friend had made multiple false accusations against her, which is what motivated her to file a lawsuit against Phyna.
She said,
“I have gone through things a girl child shouldn’t go through. Just think of anything in your head, I have gone through that. I have seen it all, physical abuse, sexual abuse, and all.
There is nothing that I have gotten that anyone gave me for free. The only thing I got for free is Big Brother Naija. I don’t know how it happened but I just thank God, because nobody ever saw something good in me even when I was a child.
A lot of things happened, that’s why I went into stripping, but a lot of people wouldn’t understand, because Nigerians aren’t ready to relate to my story.
After the reunion, I was depressed. I deactivated my Instagram, and even now I am on and off because it’s not easy for me.
After the reunion I was in a miserable state because I felt I went there to be destroyed, to be rendered useless – my brand and everything”.
